Editor's Review of the Classico
A successor of Samsung's S7330 model, the Samsung Classico, also known as Samsung S7350 Ultra, is a slider handset that exudes elegance in a brushed silver metallic casing and has the full dimensions of 109.0 x 50.5 x 12.6 millimetres. It flaunts its wide TFT screen that measures 66.04 millimetres that displays WQVGA resolution of 240 x 400 pixels. The handset also comes with a user interface with quality graphics in Flash-based themes.
The mobile phone works on quadband technology. It specifically covers GSM 850, GSM 900, GSM 1800 and GSM 900, as well as UMTS 2100 networks. Because it is 3G HSDPA-enabled, the handset is endowed with multitasking capabilities, while ensuring users of high-speed connectivity to the World Wide Web. Similarly, sharing files or data with compatible devices such as personal computers, laptops or printers is easy with the Samsung Classico's support for microUSB connectivity. Users who prefer to transfer data without the hassles of wires and cables may prefer to utilise the handset's support for Bluetooth v. 2.1 with A2DP. As the handset is powered by GPRS and EDGE Class 10, data transfers are expected to be of speedier rates.
The handset offers the standard text messaging service with Predictive Text support for quicker input of messages. It also allows users to send and receive images and graphics using the mobile phone's MMS support. Moreover, it serves as a portable assistant to busy users with its organiser features, such as a calculator for on-the-spot computations, a calendar for scheduling purposes, as well as an alarm clock. It also allows the users to select the vibration option for urgent calls or messages, minus the message or ringing alert tones.
Interestingly, the Samsung Classico also boasts of a GPS receiver feature and a Mobile Navigator, powered by Route66 software. These features allow the handset to serve as a virtual map and locator for users in certain applicable areas.
During picture-perfect moments, the Samsung Classico turns into a portable photo-snapping device. It has an integrated 5-Megapixel camera that offers the maximum resolution of 2560 x 1920 pixels. Other useful camera features include a self-portrait mirror, a 4x digital zoom and autofocus that allow the handset to more precisely capture subjects. It is also powered by a dual LED flash feature to light up otherwise dull environments. Bonus features of the in-house camera that enhance photo outputs include Face Detection, Shooting Modes, White balance, Resolution Setting and Color Effects of black and white, sepia and negative. The camera also takes sharp images when used in macro mode.
Aside from taking still pictures, the on-board camera also captures moving footages in WVGA format at a speed of 30 frames per second, and at a WVGA resolution of 720 x 480 pixels. Being a 3G handset, it comes with secondary camera for video calls.
Music-oriented users also will enjoy the pre-installed MP3 player in the mobile phone. The handset supports Bluetooth-compatible headphones that offer its users quality privately listening experience. In addition, the handset comes with an FM radio support allowing users to listen to their favourite tracks on air. The integrated radio support is complete with A2DP that provides users with information relating to news, music or weather forecasts.
The mobile phone also pleases gaming enthusiasts with its built-in games in trial versions. The pre-installed games include the popular Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Pyramid Bloxx and Brick Breaker Revolution.
The handset enables its users to store several tracks, photos or videos in its 100-Megabyte memory. This storage capacity can be augmented to up to 16 Gigabytes using a microSD memory card. The mobile phone's 880 mAh battery allows it to last for four hours in talk time. When fully charged, the handset stays on standby mode for approximately 350 hours.
Users have blasted the Samsung Classico for its lack of WiFi support, which would have made the handset a better companion for business-focused owners who frequently travel and use the Internet. Others have also pointed out that the handset does not support downloaded or third party themes, which limits users to pre-installed themes.
Despite the flaws, users have specifically commended the Samsung Classico for its well-defined and well-sized keypad provides users utmost comfort during texting and making or taking calls. Similarly, its user-friendly interface, easy-to-control features and practical functionalities have gained users' attention and admiration.
