Samsung's latest Wave handset takes things up a notch, with its eye-popping 4-inch AMOLED screen and 5 megapixel HD camera
A Preview of the Samsung Wave 3
Samsung's 2011 Bada flagship lands in the form of the Samsung Wave 3, which takes things up a level with its high-end specs and brand-new OS: Bada 2.0.
Samsung's home-grown OS may not be on par with iOS and Android when it comes to applications, but Bada 2.0 offers-up some innovative new features and Apple-style tweaks. Chief amongst these features is Samsung ChatON, a new multi-platform messaging service similar to Apple's iMessage app. Adopters of the Wave 3 can also look forward to; iOS-style multitasking, NFC support, push notifications, WiFi Direct, voice recognition, enhanced Flash, and HTML5 support.
The phone's just as impressive in terms of hardware. It houses a 4-inch (480 x 800) Super AMOLED screen within its svelte 9.9mm-thick casing, which comes powered by a speedy 1.4GHz single-core processor. The display comes coated with Gorilla Glass, too, protecting it from any nasty tumbles or scratches.
On the media-front, the Samsung Wave 3 wears a 5 megapixel primary camera, complete with autofocus, LED flash, and 720p HD video capture. There's also a front-facing videocall camera, HSDPA and WiFi connectivity, and 3GB of internal memory expandable via microSD.
Pricing and release date details for the Samsung Wave 3 are still to be confirmed.
A full review will be published here once the phone has been released.
