The Sony Ericsson K810i is a solid bar-shaped mobile phone that measures 106 x 48 x 17 millmetres and tips the scale at 103 grams. Users may opt to have their K810i in shiny noble blue, golden ivory or pulse red colours. It has small and circular keys in silver colours, plus a navigation joystick for purposes of exploring its features.

Typical of Sony Ericsson mobile phones, the K810 offers its users good viewing with a display screen in a 240 x 320 resolution that supports 262,144 TFT colours. The mobile phone offers a wide array of picture wallpapers, themes display and screensavers to reflect its owner's personality. It also supports polyphonic ringtones to suit its user's preference.

The Sony Ericsson K810i has an easily scrollable menu, with the functionality icons centrally situated for easier access. The K810i supports Multimedia Messaging, SMS long text messaging with a predictive text system that recognises misspelled or unusual words and takes a user through the dictionary. The K810i also supports IMAP4 and POP3 email accounts. It also reads RSS feeds, and comes with an internal Access NetFront Web browser.

Organiser features of the K810i include, among others, a phonebook, an alarm clock, a calculator, a calendar, a stopwatch, notes and tasks options, and a timer. The Sony Ericsson K810i may be used while on-board a plane or while in restricted areas such as hospitals or banks, with its flight-mode selection.

Connectivity with Sony Ericsson K810i is supported by Bluetooth A2DP wireless technology, modem and USB mass storage. The mobile phone also has an infrared port for ease of file transfers. It also synchronizes with a laptop or computer for those data downloads.

The Sony Ericsson K810i is a 3G-enabled mobile phone. A VGA camera can be found at the front part of the mobile phone for video calling purposes. Its 3G technology offers high-speed transfers at the rate of 384 kbps. It also runs on tri-band technology, particularly on GSMs 1900, 1800 and 900, or UMTS 2100.

Other Sony Ericsson K810i's multimedia features include an accessible music player that supports MP3 and AAC audio formats, and runs on PlayNow and TrackID music software. The K810i also has an FM radio RDS and a user-friendly sound recorder. The Sony Ericsson K810i entertains its users with 3D games and supports Java-downloaded games from the Internet.

As its banner characteristic, the Sony Ericsson K810i houses a Cyber-shot camera that supports both photo and video recording and streaming. Its top-of-the-line imaging features include, among others, a 3.2-Megapixel capability, with auto-focus and Xenon flash support. The K810i's digital camera is also equipped with BestPic technology, which allows users to take numerous photos in quick succession, and select the best photo thereafter. The K810i's digital camera is also run by a software called Photo Fix for automatic adjustments of brightness, contrast and light balance. Furthermore, the camera supports up to 16x digital zoom, has image and video stabiliser programs and comes with a red-eye reduction feature.

Pictures, videos and other data may be stored in the Sony Ericsson K810i's internal memory of 64 Megabytes, which may be expanded to up to 2 Gigabytes through an M2 micro memory stick. The Sony Ericsson K810i's battery life lasts for over 48 hours when in moderate use. At the maximum, it can quote up to a maximum of 10 hours of talk time or 400 hours of standby time.

According to some of the Sony Ericsson K810i's critics, the mobile phone's keys may look interesting with their unusual circular shape, but are too tiny for ease of use. Others complain that the K810i's joystick tends to become deflated, resulting to awkward presses during navigation.

Some have also noticed that the Sony Ericsson K810i's Web browser has not been updated, and is identical with that of its predecessor's, the K800i. As a result, the K810i lands incompatible with Web sites that are non-WAP. Moreover, the K810i does not allow the desktop mode option, preventing users from viewing the Web pages that are being browsed.

According to some observers, the Sony Ericsson K810i is comparable with the 3.2-Megapixel camera of the Samsung U600 that also comes with an auto-focus option.

the Sony Ericsson K810i has a very intersting apprach to the external design concept. while the buttons are very interesting many people who use my phone to make a call find the buttons dificult to use. i personally think it is mostly in the mind as i found the texture of the buttins prevents finger slippage when texting. the phone has been marketed as a cybershoot camera phone as if it takes really good pictures. though the picture quality is good, petter picture quality can be achieved using a different brand.
i feel that sony ericsson have taken advantage of thier good image and have just taken the same components from the previous models and taken the memory away. as a cybershoot phone, the memory is not as important as a walkman phone. but to take good pictures, i see no point in using a cybershoot phone because the walkman is just the same except there is more memory to store photos and there is a facewarp program. the difference is 128 or 512. which would you choose? the only bonus here is the asthetic features but this does not make up for the fact there is no longer a light on it, just a flash instead, not good when im looking for my keys in the dark.
