The upgraded Xperia Arc S takes things up a notch with its 1.4GHz processor and 3D Panorama technology
A Preview of the Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S
Much like the newly-announced Xperia Neo V, Sony Ericsson's Xperia Arc S is a slightly bumped-up version of its original 2011 flagship.
The first change is the handset's processor, which has been bumped from 1GHz to 1.4GHz. It might not sound like that much of a jump, but Sony Ericsson is promising a 25 percent speed boost to the handset's camera, alongside a 20 percent boost to the built-in web browser.
Another noticeable change is the addition of Sony's 3D Panorama technology. Although no changes have been made to the actual camera, this new feature enables you to take panorama photos, which will appear in sterescopic 3D when hooked up to your 3DTV. On the media front, Sony Ericsson has also included support for its 'Music Unlimited' and ?Video Unlimited' services - giving users access to over 10 million songs and thousands of movies.
Besides those aformentioned tweaks, the rest of the Xperia Arc remains the same. The Xperia Arc S comes touting the same svelte 8.7mm thick body, although once released in October 2011, it'll be available in White, Blue, Black, Silver and Pink flavours.
As you'd expect, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S also comes touting the same 4.2-inch Reality Display as its older brother, an 8.1 megapixel rear-facing camera with HD video, HDMI and DLNA technology, HSDPA and WiFi connectivity, and up to 32GB of expandable memory.
Pricing and release date details for the Xperia Arc S are still to be confirmed.
A full review will be published here once the phone has been released.
