A Preview of the Sony Ericsson Xperia neo V
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo V has launched as a cheap alternative to the Xperia Neo, but that doesn't mean it's lacking on the spec front.
In fact, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo V will arrive in Blighty running an updated version of Google's OS: Android 2.3.4. As well as all of the usual Google goodies, this will equip the Neo V with; updated Facebook inside Xperia functionality, Google Talk, Swipe text input, screen capture support, advanced USB connectivity and 3D sweep panorama technology - so that pictures can be captured and then viewed in 3D by connecting the phone to a 3D TV.
The handset itself is near identical to its similarly name sibling. It arrives touting the same 116 x 57 x 13mm dimensions, complete with an identical 1GHz Snapdragon processor and 3.7-inch (480 x 854) Reality Display.
Media-wise, however, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo V touts a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera - compared to the 8 megapixel shooter on the Xperia Neo. Still, it still comes equipped with the usual array of camera features, including HD video, LED flash and 16x digital zoom.
Other confirmed specifications include a front-facing VGA video-call camera, up to 32GB of expandable memory, HDMI and DLNA technology, HSDPA and WiFi connectivity, and a 1500mAh battery.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo V will be available globally from Q4 2011, although its pricing and release date is still TBC.
A full review will be published here once the phone has been released.
