Considerably bigger than most of its counterparts, the Toshiba TG01 measures 129 x 70 x 9.9 millimetres and tips the scale at 129 grams. This handset turns heads in its black or white casing that exudes its elegance and distinct style.

Highlighting the Toshiba TG01 is a TFT resistive screen that comes with touch-sensitive navigation controls. This touchscreen measures 104.14 millimetres and displays photos and other images in 256,000 colours on 480 x 800 pixels. This display screen also has an accelerometer sensor with an auto-rotate option. It boasts of a 3D user interface for easier menu navigation. It also boasts of a shake control feature. Users can personalise this handset with its set of embedded ringtones in MP3 format. It also allows users to download ringtones from the Internet.

This mobile phone runs on Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional operating system and may be upgraded to Windows Mobile 6.5 version. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 processor. A quadband mobile phone, the Toshiba TG01 works on GSM 850, GSM 900, GSM 1800 and GSM 1900, as well as HSDPA 2100. It is an ideal companion for frequent travellers because of its wide network reach, but its coverage ultimately depends on its user?s service provider.

This mobile phone enables users to browse through the Internet and obtain information from various Web sites through WAP 2.0/xHTML and HTML Internet Explorer browsers. It supports Wi-Fi 802.11 technology through which on-the-go users may go online at nearby WLAN hotspots. Transferring or sharing of files with other mobile phones, laptops, personal computers or printers is easy using the USB connectivity option of the Toshiba T601. Users who prefer to go the hassle-free way during data transfers may pick the Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP option of this handset, which does away with entangled cables and wires. This mobile phone is powered by GPRS Class 10, 32-48 kbps and EDGE Class 10, 236.8 kbps, which ensures faster transfer and download rates.

This communication device offers SMS or text messaging and MMS or multimedia messaging services. Its Internet connectivity option allows users to access their e-mails right on the handset. A reliable assistant, this handset also enables users to view files and documents MSWord, MSExcel, MSPowerpoint, PDF and OneNote formats. This mobile phone also offers the vibration alert option for important messages and calls that should not be missed. Moreover, it comes with A-GPS support which serves as users' direction guide in applicable locations.

This handset also makes calls convenient with its built-in speakerphones and a photocall feature. Users may key in practically unlimited number of contacts with various entry fields on this handset's phone book. It also aids users in keeping track of their call records by logging a limitless number of dialled, missed or unlimited calls.

Keeping photo buffs happy, the Toshiba TG01 has an integrated 3.15-Megapixel camera. This photo-capturing device is complete with an auto focus feature to capture subjects precisely. Users may tweak their photo outputs to perfection using the Photo Editor feature. Besides keeping moments in pictures, this handset also supports VGA footage recording at a speed of 30 frames per second. Videos in MP4 format may also be viewed right on its wide screen. As this mobile phone is powered by 3G HSDPA, it also supports video calling. To the delight of music lovers, this handset also doubles as a music player that supports MP3 audio formats.

Users can store photos, images, videos, audio and other data in this handset's 256-Megabyte Random Access Memory and 512-Megabyte Read Only Memory. This storage capacity can be expanded to up to 16 Gigabytes using a MicroSD TransFlash. This mobile phone's standard Li-Ion 1000 mAh battery allows it 276 hours of standby time. Users may keep in touch with their contacts for a 5-hour talk time using this handset on a fully charged battery.

While this handset may be equipped with advanced features, some users have criticised it for its bulky size and lack of radio facility. Others have also found its user interface too complex to navigate. Nevertheless, the Toshiba TG01 is being commended for a responsive touch screen and quality photo and video outputs. Happy users appreciate this handset for a good blend of its sophisticated appearance and top-of-the line practical and entertainment features.
